‘McCannes’ brings the French Riviera to Birmingham

Published on June 13, 2019

This week McCann Birmingham continued its Cannes build up as it played host to more than 100 guests in a celebration of creativity.

The team in Birmingham transformed its offices to give a flavour of the French Riviera, inviting guests to an exhibition of some of the best work from across the globe, with McCann Central’s Chief Creative Officer, Vince McSweeney, providing his predictions on what will scoop a coveted Lion at this year’s festival. For added competition, guests and staff were also invited to vote on what work they thought would pick up an award, pitting themselves against Vince.

Vince said: “McCann, globally, has had huge success at Cannes in recent years. So we’re all really excited about what this year’s festival will bring. We’d love to be able to take the entire agency along to experience it first-hand but in lieu of that, we hope to bring a little bit of the French Rivera to Birmingham through this event.

“Winning a Cannes Lion takes so much more than just Creative involvement. It’s a huge team effort not just from across the agency but importantly, a collaboration with the client. We hope that through this event, we have inspired both staff and guests to push their own boundaries creatively.”

Visitors were also treated to a series of masterclasses on the latest trends and insight from across the industry, followed by Vince’s Cannes predictions – all topped off with a true festival vibe including canapés, cocktails and DJ set.

Dean Lovett, Chief Executive Officer at McCann added: “It was fantastic to welcome so many guests to our offices to celebrate creativity in advertising, sharing best practice and the latest insight, as well as our passion for great work. Here’s to a great Cannes 2019!”
