McCann webinar explores a Covid Christmas

In the most recent webinar in the Stories Well Told series, McCann PR & Social was joined by Facebook’s Gareth Maguire and national journalist Pete Jenkinson to explore what consumers will be looking for online this Christmas.

The webinar, which was free to sign up to, also explored how brands can create an emotional connection and engagement with consumers as well as sales at this crucial and very different time.

During the session, Journalist Pete Jenkinson shared his predictions, having written gift guides for T3, The Daily Mail, Metro, Telegraph et al., on likely gifting trends in 2020, including:

  • ‘Less is more’ – bigger fewer gifts
  • ‘Thought Counts’ – personal and meaningful
  • ‘Ahead of the Game’ – impact of stock shortages

He then discussed how to make the most of these trends when preparing your Christmas campaigns.

Secondly, Gareth Maguire explained the subtle but commercially significant shift from Christmas shopping to Christmas buying and how to capitalise on this new behaviour in the social space.
